Sorters and screens

The requirement for sorting materials according to various aspects occurs in various phases of production and recycling process. It may be requirement of sorting by the size or the type of material. To sort material by size are used various types of sorters with sieves, the type and the size of the machine is chosen according to the type of sorted material, its quantity and requirement of the output size. The most used types are vibrating sorters, rotary sorters and star screens.

Star screen
For sorting of waste materials with the requirement for a high hour capacity of the sorter and for sorting of wet and sticky waste are used active star screens. It is a system of shafts, on which are deployed either rubber or metal sorting star screens. These star screens rotate in the direction of material flow through the production line and are driven by a set of gears with a chain. A fraction smaller than the pitch of the star screens falls dawn through the stars and larger pieces of material "flow through" over the top of the stars to the end.

Vibrating sorter
For sorting free flowing and non-sticky waste materials, with a requirement for high precision in size of sorted fractions are used vibratory sorting sieves. Vibrating sorting sieves can be Multi-sieves, ie. one device is able to sort out the multiple fractions. Vibrating sorting sieves may be used for sorting waste materials from very small output fractions (from 1 mm and more). When a request for sorting slightly sticky materials are vibrating sorting sieves supplemented by “shaking balls" which ensure continuous surface cleaning of the sieve from clogging. Sieves are made of wires or perforated metal sheets, according to the requirements and characteristics of the sorted material.

To sort the larger size of the waste materials can be used so. "Finger" vibrating sorters. The principle of the sorting is sliding of the material over sorting grids which are mutually sorted in a downward cascade. A pitch of the raster of the sorting grids determines the size of under-sieves and over-sieves fractions. The advantage of these sorters is their usage for more sticky waste materials. Fingers vibrating sorters are being used for separation of waste materials from the size of 10 mm and larger.

Rotary sorter
For sorting different kinds of waste materials with requirements for high hour capacity of sorters and for sorting wet and sticky waste, are used large-scale rotary sorting sieves. Principle of the sorting is a movement of a waste material inside a rotating drum, whose sheathing is fitted with a raster or replaceable sieve. These sorters can be double-drum, which can sort the waste material into three fractions outputs. The advantage of this principle is mutual tumbling of sorted material, so a sticky and polluted waste without clogging decks can be sorted.

Rotary sorting can be stationary or mobile with diesel generated power, without a connection of a power supply. Rotary sorting sieves are suitable for sorting: municipal waste, soil, sand and gravel, wooden chips, compost, construction debris, recycled and others.
